NH State Inspection Requirements and guidelines are available on their website. Go to dmv.nh.gov if you're up for some real action-packed reading! If you tackle that novel, please let us know how long you stayed awake!
In NH, the State Inspection rules are plentiful! There are 60+ safety items that must be inspected on your average automobile. Those points of inspection will vary depending on the vehicle's age, type of vehicle, and even what it's used for. Heavy duty commercial vehicles have their own set of rules. So do vehicles for farm or agricultural use. The rules are also different for cars over 20 years old. Classic and antique cars also have their own inspection guidelines! Without going too in depth and putting you to sleep, we'll go over the basics of NH State Inspections on your typical vehicle. The process starts with making sure your vehicle is registered first.
That is the basics of the process. Now let's cover the basics of what is part of those 60+ points of safety inspection.
Each of the above areas has many parts and each individual part has to be inspected. All Licensed Inspection Stations have Mechanics that are NH State Inspection licensed. They go through tough training and testing. The training is by the state's Department of Safety and the testing is by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The State of NH takes the Inspection Rules and Guidelines seriously, as do we! The goal is to ensure vehicles are safe for its passengers and the roadway. All our State Inspection licensed Technicians are always happy to explain anything. They are always willing to go over the rules from the State of NH Inspection Guidelines. Don't be afraid to ask! We provide transparency in all our Automotive Services and Repairs. We love to share information!
