Does My Car AC Need to Be Recharged

Does My Car AC Need to Be Recharged

Spring is in full swing and the dog days of summer are around the corner. Let us prepare you for the hot, hazy days ahead with our AC System Service for your Car or Truck!

Now, to answer your question: Does My Car AC Need to Be Recharged? In short, maybe! Whether your Vehicle uses R134 Refrigerant, or the modern type of Refrigerant R1234YF, we’ve got you covered!

Before we spend your money on Recharging your Vehicle AC System we will verify a few things. “Waste not, want not!”

Your Car AC System is a closed system. The AC Refrigerant shouldn’t be escaping, and you shouldn’t need to frequently add AC Refrigerant. If you have to, then you have an AC System Leak or a broken AC Component. Here’s some indications your Vehicle AC System needs attention from one of our Certified Auto Technicians:

  • Blowing Hot Air: This is the most obvious sign. If you turn on the AC and it's blowing warm or hot air. This could suggest a Refrigerant Leak or a problem with a part in the AC System.
  • Weak Airflow: If the AC System is blowing cool air, but the flow feels weak, this could indicate a failed part within the system.

Those are a couple of indicators that your Car AC System might not be working properly. They are also the reasons that we don’t assume there is a leak. Before we spend your money we will verify the true cause of the issue!

Before We Recharge we’ll check a few things:

  • The Cabin Air Filter: A clogged Cabin Air Filter can significantly affect the airflow.
  • Faulty Components: A Vehicle AC System has many components that can wear out and break down over time. We will inspect those components, such as the AC Compressor, Condenser, Blower Motor, Hoses and Seals. Our Mechanics have the proper equipment to test and repair any of these things!
  • A Leak in the System: As mentioned earlier, recharging a leaky system is pointless. Our Skilled Mechanics can pinpoint any leaks in the AC System. Once a leak is verified and repaired, then we can perform the AC System Recharge!

A message from your Qualified Vehicle AC System Technicians: Don’t Try This at Home!

A well-maintained Car AC System should hold its refrigerant for a long time. If your vehicle is still blowing cold air, then you're probably good. But Preventative Maintenance Services can help keep it that way and save you money in the long run. Contact us for more information about all our Automotive Air Conditioning Services. Keep it cool this summer!
