Why Does My Car Smell Like Rotten Eggs

Why Does My Car Smell Like Rotten Eggs?

Does Your Car Smell Like Rotten Eggs? Does Your Vehicle Smell Like Sulfur? That Rotten Egg Sulfur Smell could be caused by a few different things. What do you Do if Your Car Smells Like Rotten Eggs? Contact Claremont’s Most Trusted Auto Repair Shop! Who is Claremont’s Most Trusted Automotive Repair Shop, Asetex Tire & Auto! Our Certified Auto Mechanics will locate the Cause Of The Egg Smell and get your Car Repaired At An Affordable Price!

Now, Open your window for some fresh air while we discuss the most common reasons for that Rotten Egg Smell In Your Car.

  • Catalytic Converter: The Catalytic Converter takes harmful Exhaust fumes and converts them to less harmful fumes. When the Catalytic Converter Fails, sulfur compounds in the Exhaust aren’t properly processed. The buildup of the sulfur byproducts causes the Catalytic Converter to overheat and release that Rotten Egg Smell in Your Car.
  • Fuel Pressure Sensor or Fuel Pressure Regulator: The Fuel Pressure Sensor regulates the flow of fuel to your Car’s Engine. Too Much Fuel Flow to the Engine causes the excess Fuel to process through the Catalytic Converter. The Fuel overload to the Converter can Cause Your Vehicle To Smell Like Rotten Eggs.
  • Low Quality Fuel: Poor Gasoline Quality can contain higher levels of sulfur. Running Bad Fuel through your Engine can create that Sulfuric Rotten Egg Smell.
  • The Battery: The Car’s Battery has a mixture of sulfuric acid and water. An Overcharged Car Battery or a Failing Car Battery is the less likely cause. But if Your Vehicle’s Battery is experiencing either of those issues it could cause the Rotten Egg Smell.
